November 7, Nikon released a new APS-C mirrorless camera, the Z50II. The new camera uses a 20.9-megapixel CMOS image sensor, upgraded to the same Expeed 7 processor as the Z9 and Z8, supports 4K60P video and Log, and the body is slightly enlarged. The body-only price is $909.95.
Among all the upgrades, Expeed 7 is the most important. Thanks to the new processor, Z50II supports many new features. First of all, in terms of video, Z50II supports 4K60P video, and the color depth is increased to 10 bit, and supports Log and HLG video, but it must be mentioned that 4K60P video is achieved through cropping; a high-resolution zoom function is added, but the resolution is reduced to 1080P; the electronic image stabilization algorithm is also improved, using the same algorithm as Zf, which can effectively improve the stability of video shooting while walking.
In terms of focusing, the Z50II is directly on par with the Z9 and Z8 (function), and can recognize a variety of targets including people, animals, birds, cars, airplanes, and motorcycles. In addition, bird recognition is separated from the animal recognition column, which is better than the Z6III.
Added lossless compression RAW and high-efficiency compression RAW
The card slot has been upgraded from UHS-I to UHS-II, which means that SD cards using V60V90 can also run at full speed
The flash sync speed seems to have increased from 1/200 seconds to 1/250 seconds
The low-light focus detection capability has been greatly improved from -4EV to -9EV, and even the flagship Z9Z8 can only reach -7EV
3D tracking focus has returned to half-frame since D500
