The Leica D-Lux 8 is an MFT fixed lens camera. It has a 21-megapixel Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor, 17 megapixels are used for imaging and a non-replaceable 10.9-34mm f/1.7-2.8 ASPH lens.
Look familiar? Yes, Leica D-Lux 8 and D-Lux 7 are both Leica-branded Panasonic Lx100 ii. These three cameras were released over a span of six years. But the sensor and even lens are the same.

Of course there are changes. This Leica D-Lux 8 has simplified the operating buttons on the back of the camera, making it more concise. I have to admit, it looks better than the Leica D-Lux 7.
It is reported that The Leica D-Lux 8 is priced at $1,595. This is overpriced for a camera with a six-year-old MFT sensor (17 megapixels) and a fix lens that doesn't fully cover the sensor. Even if it's a Leica.
But hey, look on the bright side and at least this camera has a mechanical shutter and hot shoe. The Leica D-Lux 8 even comes with an original flash. This is what its cousin, the Panasonic Lumix S9, lacks the most.
